here b/c I’ve been there.
Hi, my name is Danielle. I am a mother to two small children, one of which was born with a rare condition that landed us in the NICU intensive-care unit at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, which became our second-home over the course of four months. My start to caregiving was extreme: immediately after giving birth, juggling a newborn in the hospital + toddler at home, while also managing my own postpartum recovery. The intensive-care-unit was a completely foreign frontier, one that I needed to immediately understand in order to best advocate my child’s needs. It wasn’t easy. It was grueling. Intimidating. And messy. It’s also what sparked this project: helping parents and caregivers feel empowered and informed while surviving the road home from the hospital. That’s the goal. My hope is to help caregivers feel a little less alone, and a lot more supported. Because together, we’ve got this.
